About Layla Vladi
Based in the Bay Area, Layla Vladi has been creating her own unique brand of fantasy-inspired illustrations, establishing a name for herself in the art community. From her studio, Layla approaches her paintings with an atmospheric sensitivity combining shape, tone line, and color.
Throughout her formative years, Layla excelled in art classes and participated in several art exhibits. She traveled to various countries due to her family’s business, finally settling in California to pursue a career in Illustration/Concept Art. Based in the Bay Area, Layla Vladi has been creating her own unique brand of fantasy-inspired illustrations, establishing a name for herself in the art community.
As a young adult she sought a more serious outlet for her talent. Not finding the ultimate education for the type of semi-realism she sought, Layla found art related jobs to keep her motivated. Learning to paint digitally was her goal and found that opportunity at Gnomon — School of Visual Effects, Games & Animation where she learned a mixture of a more classical and modern approach. From there, she attended workshops from nationally renowned digital artists and from there began to find her own path in her creative journey. From her studio, Layla approaches her paintings with an atmospheric sensitivity combining shape, tone line, and color.
Since 2015, she has devoted herself to the pursuit of art, specializing in the creation of large scale paintings. Layla's artistic practice draws on mythology and historical storytelling traditions, her narratives are thoughtful explorations that chronicles loss, change, and learning. Her work is often loaded with detail, and yet her brushwork can be loose to give breath and movement to each scene. Layla’s art reanimates historical & traditional genres combining multiple modern techniques to create her own unique approach to painting. Mostly known for her images of figures that emerge from our dreams, her works have been described as melancholic fused with the natural environment be it static or moving. Leaving enough room for others to experience their reality while also having the option to connect to hers.
