Karole Marois, emotional spiritual connections with water
Karole Marois is a visual artist based in Prince Edward County Ontario. She was born and raised in the small francophone city of Eastview, east of Ottawa. A graduate of the Fine Arts program at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, she also holds a diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence Italy, as well as a Computer Animation diploma from Sheridan College.
Her watermedia figurative paintings have been exhibited in galleries and museums across Canada, the US and Europe and can be found in private and public collections. Two of her large multipanel artworks, created after an art residency experience with the Canadian Forces Artist Program in 2005, are now in the collections of the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa and the City Hall of Apeldoorn in the Netherlands.
Since moving her home and studio to the shores of Lake Ontario, Karole has been captivated by the natural beauty of Prince Edward County. Her current work explores our human-nature relationship and focuses on our physical, emotional and spiritual connection with water.
Thanks to the generous support of the Ontario Arts Council, she was able to create a new body of work in 2019, which she exhibited in Picton Ontario. She curated the In Osmosis exhibition, displaying her acrylic paintings side by side with printed poems and songs written by four regional contemporary authors.
Karole continues to exhibit her work in public and commercial galleries and accepts commissions. Each year, she participates in the prestigious Art in the County juried exhibition and opens her studio doors to visitors during the Prince Edward County Art Tour.
