I need your help with my upcoming art project. As I shared in my last e-newsletter to you, I am beginning my next series which I’ve titled the Awful Selfie Project. As a friend, and supporter, I want YOU to be a part of this project. To clarify, I am asking a few people to take photos of them”self”s with their smart phones (i.e. a “selfie”) and send it to me via email. Make it awful or make it magnificent. I am looking for you to inspire me. I can’t promise I will use all submissions but will use many as inspiration for my next paintings in this series (hopefully 10 oil paintings – 2 feet x 2 feet, 62 cm x 62 cm).
The recent portrait of my friend, Tina, above, will give you an idea of where I am going with this.
What you will need:
1) A smartphone with a camera and an email account.

2) Send an email to me ( me @ tommontan.com ) and attach your “selfie”
The selfie has evolved as mainly an activity of teens and celebrities. Let’s take the selfie to the next level; Let’s get analog on everyone with selfies.? From bits & bytes to linseed oil and pigments… let’s take selfies out of cyber-sphere and into the art gallery-sphere.
From you, I need nothing other than your inspired, and even possibly your most awfullest selfie.? SO, please don’t be shy- I will keep you anonymous if you want me to… but, whatever your preference, by all means, have fun.
The work is beginning and I don’t want you to be left out.
