My approach to the figure is both formal and expressive. Each painting begins with a focus on gesture, light, and composition. Then I experiment with color, texture, and the environment inhabited by the figure. I don’t plan the outcome – each piece seems to evoke a thought or mood. The title is a reflection of what I see at that point in time.
